I am writing from the wonderful country of Malta.
Malta is one of those interesting places that is mixed with a beautiful old town and developments that have made the coastline dreary and just like everywhere else. From old school buses from the 1970's to swimming off the concrete/rocks and trying to avoid stingrays which are so prominent in Malta over Summer that there are signs on every beach explaining what to do when stung. Signs and menus are written in English and as Malta used to be Britian's naval base it makes sense. The nightlife is quiet in parts and intense in others eg. Paceville. Staying in Sliema is recommended as you can walk across the road to the ocean and walk around to St. Julians for dinner and drinks over looking the ocean.
